This tough, sturdy sloop was a familiar sight racing off Cowes for four years, but she didn't fit out for the 1963 season as Max Aitken then had his new yacht
Outlaw
.
Designed by Ray Hunt and built by Clare Lallow, she originally had twin centreboards, one in either bilge. They were subsequently discarded in favour of a single plate on the centreline.
She was always raced hard and, in the photo on the right she's carrying a 'rainbow' cut genoa below the spinnaker with two mitre seams to the foot and the leach at right angles. The idea was to control stretch in the belly of the sail.
