Born in 1910, he died in 1985.

The son of Lord Beaverbrook, the Canadian newspaper magnate, Max Aitken was a Battle of Britain pilot.

After the war he promoted yachting and power boat racing through the Daily Express, the London International Boat Show and legendary parties at The Prospect, his house in Cowes which is now the Sir Max Aitken Museum.
