Designed by Sonny Levi, Aquila was built in 1973 by Triana Boats of Wimborne, Dorset on a hull moulded by Tyler Boats of Tonbridge.  She was originally powered by petrol engines and named Striker.

She was converted to diesel propulsion in 2013, and was renamed Aquila when she was acquired by David Hughes, Alex Davies and Sarah Davies.
