Atlantis was requisitioned in October 1939 for danlaying (dan buoys were laid to mark a minefield or an area which had been cleared of mines) and was renamed Sargosso.

She later became a minelaying yacht and operated with the 9th Minesweeper Flotilla in the English Channel.

In June 1943 she hit a mine off St Alban's Head and was lost.
