Amphitrite was a Camper & Nicholson schooner built for Colonel A D MacGregor in 1887.  She rated 13.163 and sailed in the 1890s.

In the early half of that decade the cruisers were out in great force.  The photograph on the right shows the last of that age which was born from the small naval ships of the era of Trafalgar and the Nile.  The clipper bow dates the scene which is only a few years after Watson was still hesitating to give his designs a spoon bow.  Note also the vertical cloths in the mainsail, which were later sewn up horizontally.
