Born in 1813, he married Lady Louisa Georgiana Beauclark, the daughter of the 8th Duke of St Albans, on 28 December 1835.
He was the J.P. for Home Airds of Kells, Dumfriesshire, and the MP for Dundalk (1806-1812).
