The first picture below is an extract from a painting hanging in the Vice Commodore's bedroom and shows Formosa winning the Queen's Cup in 1878 when she was owned by Colonel Sloane Stanley - later to be the 16th Earl of Derby.

She won the Queen's Cup again in 1880 under the ownership of the Prince of Wales.

The second picture is in the Ladies' Drawing Room and shows her rounding what is possibly the Fastnet Rock with a reefed mainsail.

She was altered from cutter to yawl in 1887.
