Calista was taken into war service in September 1914 at about the same time as she was acquired by Captain Alwyn Foster who, in fact, wasn't elected until 1918.

She was armed with three 3-pounders and served firstly in the Rosyth area before being moved to the Granton area in 1915.  She then moved again to the Orkneys and Shetlands where she served throughout 1916 and 1917.  She struck a mine in the Irish Sea in December 1917 and was lost with all hands.
