This, the last of a number of Cetos, was requisitioned in September 1939 and was employed as a danlaying vessel.  In December 1939 she was transferred to the Signal School at Portsmouth where she was used as a calibration ship.  In February 1943 she was doing similar work in the Western Approaches.
