Sona was the first semi-diesel yacht ever constructed.

She was requisitioned in September 1939 as an anti-submarine patrol vessel, and in August 1940 she became an accommodation ship in Poole Harbour.  On 4 June 1942 she was attacked by an enemy aircraft and hit by a bomb which later detonated and broke her back.
