Originally rigged as a brig (print below), Wanderer sailed to Rio, Tristan da Cunha, and Sydney in 1841, with Sir Oswald Brierley, the artist of the lithograph on the right.

She was afterwards taken as part payment of an unsuccessful Queensland and Antarctic whaling speculation.

The owner, Benjamin Boyd, went shooting in the Solomon Islands in 1850 and was never heard of again.
