The painting on the right shows the race for £500 on 29 September 1843 between John Congreve's 85 ton cutter Corsair and Mr Meiklan's 61 ton cutter Talisman.  The course was from Yarmouth, round the Eddystone and back - 224 miles.  Talisman led around Eddystone but Corsair passed her off Portland on the return trip and won by only 4 minutes and 4 seconds.  The yachts were estimated to have sailed 360 miles in 39 hours 38 minutes.
