In her early days Water Lily was described as a Screw Lugger, 69.3 feet long and owned by The Rt Hon A McM Kavanagh, MP until his death in 1889.
In 1890, by now listed as being 80 ft long, she was described as a Twin Screw Schooner owned by the Executors of the late Rt Hon A McM Kavanagh.
Thereafter her owners were:
1891-1894 G Troyte Bullock who, in 1893, became G Troyte-Chafyn-Grove.
1895-1898 M de Villeroy (and she was re-registered from Southampton to Dieppe)
In 1899 she was bought by Lt Col R Barrington-Baker and was re-named Inyoni, the same name as his previous yachts. She was now registered in Plymouth, but later transferred to Portsmouth. He was still listed as the owner in 1915, but the yacht had disappeared by the time records restarted in 1919. It's possible that she had had another name change, but it seems far more likely that she ended her days some time during WWI as she'd have been an old lady by then.
Kavanagh was the only RYS Member to own her.
Owners
