The Prince of Wales, accompanied by Mrs Keppel, was entertained on board off Cowes in August 1886.

Ceto was taken up for war service and served at Dover in 1914 and, the following year, became a part of the Downs Boarding Flotilla and served in that capacity until the end of the war.
