Eöthenwas one of the early steam ships, originally owned by Arthur Anderson, Chairman  of the P&O Company.

In 1868, when owned by Lord Conyngham, she raced against Lord Vane's steam yacht Cornelia, an event which excited considerable derision at Cowes.

The photo on the right shows her as Eöthen in 1909.  The lithograph below is also of Eöthen.  The photo below shows the yacht as she was in 1911, by which time she had been re-named Fire Opal.
