Admiral John Philip Rolleston, D.S.O., Royal Navy, (10 April 1859 – 12 December 1936.

Rolleston was promoted to
Lieutenant with seniority of 29 June 1883, and to Captain on 31 December 1903.

On 3 January 1905 he was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Arrogant.

He was appointed as captain of the battleship Hannibal on 20 October 1906.

He was appointed in command of the battleship Repulse and for command of a Battleship Division in Special Reserve at Devonport on 11 August 1908.

Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 13 December 1913.

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 7 March 1914.

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 9 January 1919, and was advanced to Admiral on the Retired List on 3 March 1924.
