Admiral Francis Alban Arthur Giffard Tate (7 June, 1853 – 4 January, 1930) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
At some point after 1897, he changed his name to Alban Giffard Tate.
Life and Career
Tate was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 27 October, 1877, and to Commander on 30 June, 1891.
Captain
Tate was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1897.
He was appointed as captain of the battleship Hannibal on 1 October, 1903, and then of the Hindustan on 12 July, 1905.
Flag Rank
Tate was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 July, 1907 and then to Vice-Admiral on 30 July, 1912.
He was placed on the Retired List on the 31st at his own request and was promoted to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 9 June, 1916.
