Vice-Admiral Basil Hew Fanshawe, C.B.E., (18 May, 1868 – 11 August, 1929) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Fanshawe was born at the Cape of Good Hope, the son of a Lieutenant General.
On 1 April, 1891, Fanshawe was promoted to Lieutenant.
On 31 December, 1903, Fanshawe was promoted to Commander.
On 30 June 1910, Fanshawe was promoted to Captain.
Fanshawe was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Royal Arthur in October 1911.
Fanshawe was appointed in command of the light cruiser Bristol on 3 January, 1913.
