Rear-Admiral James Sacheverell Constable Salmond, Royal Navy (1 June, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Salmond was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Albert Louis Salmond, born in St. James Square, London on 1 June, 1882.
Salmond was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1903.
Salmond was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1911. On 20 October, he would be appointed to Hercules as torpedo officer, and for wireless duties.
On 5 November, 1914, Salmond was admitted to Plymouth Hospital with appendicitis and given 42 days before being re-evaluated. He failed several evaluations and was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December while still hospitalised. He emerged on 11 January, 1915 with a clean bill of health.
He was appointed in command of the sloop Odin on 16 April, 1917, assuming command around 18 May. He would serve in this role through the end of the war.
Salmond married Mary Anastasia Victoria Mostyn on 18 November, 1920. Salmond was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1920.
Salmond was appointed in command of the light cruiser Yarmouth in January, 1923.
On 1 January, 1931, Salmond was appointed in command of the battleship Malaya.
Salmond was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 January, 1933 and placed on the Retired List the next day in accordance with the provisions of Order in Council of 9 March, 1914.
