Cole Corlandt Fowler (7 August 1866 - 24 May 1936).

The son of Major-General J. C. Fowler, of Ashby Manor, Spilsby, he was educated at Clifton and entered the Royal Navy in 1880.  In 1903 he received the Royal Humane Society's testimonial for jumping overboard in company with a lieutenant from H.M.S. Mars off Gibraltar and saving a seaman who had fallen from the ship.

He commanded H.M.S. Collingwood in the Grand Fleet in 1917-18, was A.D.C. to King George V, and was made a C.B. in 1922, when he retired, having received also the Legion of Honour.

He was promoted to rear-admiral in 1919, to vice-admiral (retired) in 1924, and to admiral (retired) in 1928.

Admiral Fowler married in 1905 Inez Gertrude, daughter of the late Berkeley Paget, and had three daughters.

He died at his home, Enborne, Newbury, after a long illness, at the age of 70.
