Admiral Henry William Grant, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (24 January, 1870 – 15 April, 1949) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Born in Charlton, Grant passed out of Britannia with a commendable eleven months' seniority in December 1884. His first appointment lasted nearly two years, in Triumph in the Pacific.
Grant was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant January, 1892.
He was promoted to the rank of Commander dated 31 December, 1902.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1907.
He was appointed in command of the battleship Albemarle on 25 August, 1908. He was again appointed to command her on 15 May, 1913.
Grant was appointed Captain in Command of the Portsmouth Navigation School on 1 February, 1910.
He was appointed to command the armoured cruiser Hampshire in January 1914.
Grant was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral dated 22 February, 1919, vice Blackett and placed on the Retired List the following day.
He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1925, and to Admiral on 27 February, 1929.
Grant died of heart failure.
