Captain The Honourable Bertram Thomas Carlyle Ogilvy Freeman Mitford, DSO, RN (2 June 1880 – 1962).

He inherited the title of the 3rd Baron Redesdale in 1958

He was born in Chelsea, the son of A. B. F. Mitford, M.P..

Mitford was promoted to Lieutenant on 1 October 1902, and to Commander on 31 December 1913

He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Lowestoft in February 1918.

Mitford was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December 1918 and retired at his own request on 19 May 1922.
