Commander Tower was one of the first members to be elected under a new rule of the Squadron which was passed to permit membership without owning of a yacht.
Casualties in the War had been such that, as well as diminution of circumstances, the club was finding difficulties in obtaining members who would be suitable and who owned yachts.
In his day, Commander Tower had been very active in yachting and, in turn, was the father of a Naval Member who became a Vice Admiral and the grandfather of a Member who became a Major General.
He has a Memorial Tablet on the North Wall of Holy Trinity Church.
