The Hon George Charles ColvilleMBE, 22 Feb 1867-19 Sep 1943) was a barrister and the High Sheriff of London in 1930

He married Lady Helen Cynthia Milnes later Crewe-Milnes DCVO DBE, on 21 Jan 1908.  She was a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary from 1923 to 1953.


The youngest son of Lord Colville of Culross. Was born in 1867. He was educated at Winchester and Trinity College, Cambridge, and was called to the Bar in 1891.

He has been constantly in touch with sailing, chiefly on the Solent. In 1892 he built Hoopoo, 2½-rater, a very successful boat, which at the end of the season flew twenty-six flags. Another 2½-rater purchased by Mr. Colville was Mynah, built in 1902 by Summers and Payne, after which he owned the Mazurka, one-design boat, which in four seasons won 128 prizes, including sixty firsts. He now owns Sorceress, 35 tons. He is a member of the Yacht Racing Association, having been elected in 1894.
